Gruyghe Twoshoes

      Meet one of the most dominant personalities and creative escape artists I have ever had the pleasure of knowing in a canary. His name is 'Gruyghe Twoshoes', after a little brown Welsh field-and-farm fairy. If they choose to stay, they can bring good luck, but they can never be kept by force. 'Twoshoes' refers to the fact that he likes to tap-dance. Well, a canary kind of tap-dancing, but that's what it looks and sounds like he's doing!

      His colour is known as hard-feathered varigated red-brown; the red-ground version of variegated cinnamon. As with most birds shown in these pictures, he is in the middle of his summer moult when his picture was taken...
