"Your information is definitely needed! I've had canaries for several years and bred them several times...but you've taught me more than I ever knew!"

"I thoroughly enjoy FLock Talk! Yours is the first pet bird publication that actually offers useful advice, and provides correct information! As a biologist and self-proclaimed bird nut, I really appreciate that! Keep up the great work!" Sincerely, Diane Lahaise, Atlanta GA

"Tah-Dah! Our first chick! We followed your advice closely and it certainly paid off! Most people we have talked to didn't get chicks on their first try."  Jay and Jeanne

Do You Have a Bird Question?

Here's How You Find Your Answers!

Sick Birds:
Please understand that if you think your bird is sick, you need to consult an avian vet. If you know your bird is ill and ask here for a solution, all we will tell you is to consult a good avian vet. Birds try to hide being sick, so if your bird looks sick, there is very little time to waste, if you value your bird's life. You can look for an avian vet at www.aav.org.

Bird Questions:
You have a number of resources available to you here to help you find the answers to your questions. Click on the navigation links at the top of any page on this website (including this one) to find articles on basic care, encouraging song, and many aspects of breeding. Many of the more common questions are covered there, but for those that aren't, keep reading, because there's lots more resources available!

Not Singing:
Sometimes canaries will stop singing due to problems with their diet or caging or because they are moulting; to learn more about this read Robirda's article Why Won't My Canary Sing?. Or if you're seeing feathers falling, read her articles on moulting. If you think your bird may have stopped singing due to illness, please check with an avian vet to make sure there's no serious illness involved. Whatever you do, please do NOT try to treat or medicate your canary without a professional diagnosis!

Once you've checked the above, you can help to keep your pet canary interested in singing by playing him our popular Canary Song CD, New Songs From the Birdroom. Male canaries are territorial, and hearing other canaries singing will challenge them to sing more in response. You'll find no distracting background music, just top-quality recordings of Robirda's canaries singing, for a great price. Click here to learn more

Frequently Asked Questions:
A good place to check for answers to specific questions is our Frequently Asked Questions page. Here is where we post copies of the questions we tend to hear most often - with their answers. You will find a lot of answers here, so do be sure to look over them all! Click here to visit our FAQs

"As usual we totally enjoyed Flock Talk. We are getting a wonderful education in caring for our birds. Thank you for producing such a fine, educational piece twice a month. We hope it reaches every pet owner and makes them sit up and take notice... bless you for the excellent job you are doing educating bird owners."  Mike and Mary Boggia, Tucson, Arizona

"I just wanted to say 'thanks... for being so knowledgeable about canaries'. I have spent hours researching bird info on the net, and I keep coming back to your site. It is the best by far, and as a bonus, has Canadian content."   L.A. Taylor, Toronto, Canada

"Thanks for all the info. I'm new at this and have learned so much. I'm sending you the money I spent to buy a book that is not half as useful as your site."

"I sent you the same amount the vet charged me yesterday; you have done no less than he did for my bird. You are a real blessing to all of us canary lovers the world over."

"I am very happy I found your site. I have found your help more useful than talking with my local vets, who mostly deal with other small animals. It is a site I will highly recommend to anyone with birds." Marianne

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
