Due to this edging, the colour of this canary can appear a bit dull when compared to its intensive-feathered counterparts. I have had people walk into my aviary, look at such a bird, and insist that it could not be a canary - I had somehow gotten a wild bird mixed in with my flock! But yes, this is a canary... and likely a good one, too - the darker melanin canaries of whatever ground colour or breed will often prove to be generally hardier than their lipochrome counterparts, and often sing more freely to boot. What else could you want in a great canary? |
