Don't Mess With It

This picture is a great shot of one of the youngsters just starting to go over the edge of the nest, while his mom feeds two of his siblings... as you can see, very little these days lands on the nest. The material still on the rim of the nest is dry and is not bothering the chicks, while the inside of the nest is still good and clean, so I haven't disturbed them. Time enough for that when they are done with the nest!

A good rule of thumb when dealing with breeding canaries, or any of the more delicate species, for that matter, is, "If in doubt, don't mess with it."

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
