Preparing for Night As the day draws towards its close, the feedings intensify, in both quantity and length; by the time night falls the chicks will be stuffed nigh full to bursting. They will need it, because once night falls, they will not be fed again until the morning - canaries can't see at all in the dark, and the parent birds will not feed or move about in the night.
