Welcome to the

Canary Cam Archives

Simple Toys

This shot quite nicely shows how a simple hanging perch such as this can be made more entertaining to a canary - simply tie short bits of kitchen twine onto it - the birds will spend hours tugging at it and 'preening' it, especially as the season moves on towards the spring breeding season.

This is Alpha-Bits, so-named because he was the last son of my hen Little Bits. He is a young ticked Red Lipochrome canary. He is venting his frustration by tugging at the twine on the millet-holder perch.

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
